"One Hand in the Air for the Big City"

The "Sex and the City 2" movie trailer has finally been released and while the storyline isn't really clear, we do know there's a trip to the desert involved. Before it was Mexico, now the desert, I mean why not? Fashion = camels, eh? Either way we're still getting our dose of glitz and glammer so who am I to complain!?

The movie is set to release on May 28, 2010. Check out the trailer after the jump.

Gaga Fever

I have a confession... its 1 in the morning and I'm up watching the "Bad Romance" video on repeat on Youtube. Why, you might ask? Well, for one I have the concert in 6 days (part of my amazing X-mas present from the boyf) and second, I need to learn the dance she does in the video before the concert so obvi my friends and I can crack up at ourselves while we try to imitate her (we already started this last night).  I mean, lets admit it. Her style, fashion and music are the freshest thing we've seen in a while... I even had to go out and buy a specific outfit for the occasion (shimmery tights included).

In any case, I was also checking out the video for "Eh, Eh, (nothing else I can say)" and noticed her wearing a very chic, retro-looking yellow watch that caught my eye. It's part of the Baby-G watches from Casio and apparently a ton of celebs are a fan. Click HERE for details and retail info.

She also mentioned in an interview that yellow was going to be the it color this year b/c people need happiness... thoughts?

Feliz Navidad (cha cha cha)!!!

Just wanted to wish all of my chicas and chicos Happy Holidays!!! Thanks for all your support and love! You guys rock and I love doing this for all of you. I hope you enjoy this time with all of your loved ones and may all your dreams come true for 2010! Look out for some great posts in the new year!

Besos,
Stephanie

R.I.P Brittnay Murphey

I just learned of Brittnay Murphey's death and I'm very saddened by it. Obviously, the first thing I thought of was one of my all-time favorite movies "Clueless" and what an impact her character had on me. Then I thought, she's not that much older than me?! I guess we should all assume its drug-related (@ 32 yrs of age... what else could it be?) but I want to wait to hear more details on this. In any case, my heart goes out to all her loved ones and fans. May her talent live on in all her movies...

Midtown Chic-a Gift Guide: Foodies

Looking for a present for the chef in your life? Or perhaps you've been invited to a holiday party and not sure what to take?

Try some of these picks for a quick holiday fix...

When we were in Italy, all we saw were Panettones everywhere! For a tasty way of celebrating the holidays, try Bauducco's Panettone (available with raisins or chocolate). Sold @ places such as Publix, Sedano’s and Walgreen’s for about $6.99, its the perfect treat to bring with you to the next holiday get together. Also, here's the Italian way of enjoying your Panettone: Italian style: Slice into wedges, warm briefly in microwave. Drizzle with dark chocolate sauce. Serve with Prosecco, Limoncello or medium white wine. Oh so elegant!

This Cambridge Two-Tier Server with Plates from Crate and Barrel is the perfect present for those who enjoy entertaining. I'm actually thinking of getting this for my parents so they can use it for our Christmas dinner. You can put cheeses and crackers here or cookies as shown in the picture. Retails for $34.95.

This adorable film was playing on our flight back from Rome (11hrs) and it helped to A. pass the time and B. make our mouths water. Obviously Meryl Streep is amazing in this role as is Amy Adams... I felt a connection here with the whole blog tie-in. :) I actually saw that Williams Sonoma was selling both the Julie & Julia DVD and the original book, "Mastering the Art of French Cooking" but I think the DVD is a fine present.
One of my go-to presents during the holidays is this deeeeelish Hot Chocolate mix from Williams Sonoma. Its a nice, yet simple gift. For me, nothing epitomizes the holidays than a nice hot cup of cocoa. Retails for $19.95.

Midtown Chic-a Gift Guide: Dog Lovers

Dogs in Vogue a Century of Canine Chic by Judith Watt. Sold at Anthropologie and Amazon.com for $31.50

Wine Dogs Italy
sold on Amazon.com for $34, whats better than dogs AND wine?

Your Pooch and Santa

We have family friends that every year send us holiday cards with an updated photo of the family (parents, kids, grand kids, etc.) which I love and think its sweet (maybe a bit corny, but hello, I'm corny). Which got me thinking, what if I sent out holiday cards with Lola on the cover? Wouldn't my friends and family love to recieve a holiday card with Lola all festive for the occasion? I think so! At least I know I would get a kick out of it anyway. :)

Here are some places you can take your pet to get their picture taken with Santa... in case you want to include them in your holiday cards, or for your own viewing pleasure!

Pet Smart is offering up digital photos with Santa on the weekends, you even get a holiday frame! For more info or a location near you, click HERE.

Town Center at Boca Raton is hosting a Pet Night with Santa on Dec. 14 from 7 – 9 p.m. It's the perfect holiday keepsake. Call 303.807.7892 for an appointment.

Dolphin Mall is hosting Pet Photos with Santa on Dec. 16th from 7:30pm - 9:00pm. Visit Santa at the Snow Globes and get your pet's photo taken with Santa. All pets must be on a leash or in a lightweight carrier and be up-to-date on shots.

Send us your holiday pet photos to midtownchica@gmail.com and we'll
be sure to post 'em!

Brooklyn's in the House!

The other day I was grabing lunch in Midtown Miami at my favorite place (see Cheese Course post) when something caught my eye that made me literally jump up and down...

There it was... Brooklyn Bagels! Little by little it just seems that everything we love and miss from NYC is slowly making its way down south. What taste better in the morning than a delicious bagel with your morning cup of joe??? Juan and I use to wake up early when we lived in NYC and make our way to our favorite deli for fresh bagels. Now with this new opening, looks like we'll have a new local spot to hit up on Sunday mornings!

In honor of this post, I'd like to name some other things I love about Brooklyn:
*Brooklyn Bridge
*Brooklyn Industries
*Jay-Z, Biggie, MGMT, etc.
*Prospect Park
*Brooklyn Brewery
*Habana Outpost
*Junior's Cheesecake
*Bogota Latin Bistro (Park Slope)
*Grimaldi's Pizza

The web site isn't fully up and running yet but here's the link for more info on Brooklyn Bagels.

P. Diddy chats with Midtown Chic-a

Yesterday we had the privilege of sitting down with Mr. Sean “Diddy” Combs to talk about cocktails and what Diddy calls “sophisticated” entertaining. I mean, let’s be real, who throws a better bash then Mr. Diddy himself???

We caught up with the business mogul at Blade inside the Fountainbleu Hotel in Miami Beach where he and the folks from CƎROC Vodka were hosting a special event complete with h'dourves and plenty of cocktails to host one of his infamous parties… all in celebration of two new flavors that he will be rolling out in February of 2010, Red Berry and Coconut.

Here’s what Diddy had to say after we asked him a few questions…

Midtown Chica (MC): How does one party like Diddy without having Diddy pockets?
Diddy: That’s easy, you get a bottle of CƎROC (magnum) gather a group of your friends at your house or a hotel suite and it makes for a more personal, fun experience.
MC: That still sounds expensive to me, but we’ll go with it…

MC: Club or House Party?
Diddy: House parties are def my favorite. It’s a more organic and personal way of having a good time. You can actually give your guests more personal attention.

MC: First word that comes to mind when I say Miami?
Diddy: Paradise.

MC: How often do you try to come down to Miami?
Diddy: Def not enough this year, but I usually like to spend about 3 months worth of time down here.

MC: What are your favorite hot spots in Miami?
Diddy: Mansion, LIV and Cameo.

MC: Tell us about these two new CƎROC flavors coming out next year?
Diddy: I personally went into the laboratory to test out which flavors we needed to come out with. My most important requirement was that they could not taste like cough syrup! Too many flavored vodkas out there taste like cough syrup. With these new flavors, Red Berry and Coconut, you’ll get the flavor mixed with infused vodka. You can drink these straight or mixed with pineapple juice or lemonade.

We know what Diddy will be giving all of his friends for the holidays this year, a gift wrapped bottle of CƎROC Vodka to ring in the New Year!
