Por Fin! Every day we would wonder and ask ourselves, when is Tapas y Tintos going to open up?! For months now we’ve been anticipating the opening of the second location of this popular Spanish tapas restaurant in Midtown and this week our wish finally came true with the soft opening of Tapas y Tintos on Monday.
For years, many of us (locals and tourist alike) have been enjoying the delicious food Tapas y Tintos offers in a fun, Spanish-inspired atmosphere on the corner of Espanola Way on South Beach. Many nights we danced the night away with the sounds of MANA playing in the background as we downed carafes of sangria… sigh... those were the days!
Can you tell the nostalgia this place inspires is enough to make it a HUGE success in Midtown?!? =)
Anyhow, yesterday I had the opportunity to visit Tapas for my birthday lunch with my coworkers. We were all very excited (as locals and loyal fans of the original TYT on SoBe) to see how it would compare to the original location. Luckily, the venue did not disappoint as the owners have done a stellar job of building out the space with nice lounge areas and modern furniture with touches of red here and there.
The food was good, although we all ordered the lunch special and actually thought the appetizer (chorizo sidra) was better than the entrée (grilled chicken). You can tell the servers are still getting the hang of things (they were putting up TVs and still fixing things while we ate) but I think its only a matter of time before this place is jam-packed and filled to the brim with folks wanting a good meal and fun atmosphere.

Ole!
