The Billboard Latin Music awards hit Miami last Thursday and although the actual event was overshadowed by some other big events (Royal Wedding anyone?) – there was a star-studded afterparty that was bumping until the wee hours of the night @ the newly opened lounge, Kyma, inside The Epic Hotel hosted by Universal Latin Music Entertainment and Ketel One vodka. You know that if there’s one thing you can count on is a hot afterparty in Miami!
I had the opportunity to attend the event as a guest and helped out a little “behind the scenes” on the red carpet which is always madness, but it gave me the chance to realize a couple of things…
1. Enrique Iglesias is so freaking HOT in person (yes, I’m married but I can still admit that). He’s much taller in person than I imagined and normally known to shy away from the cameras, was actually in very good spirits that night (I guess winning 9 awards put him in a good mood!) as he spoke with all of the media outside.
2. Don Omar loves to play bad boy in real life too! It’s not just in his videos. As I was waiting outside all of a sudden I heard a sqqqqquuueeeelllllll and all heads turned to look at a red hot Ferrari that had pealed onto the driveway @ the Epic, who else would it be but him driving like a lunatic?
3. Christian Castro showed up with a “lady friend” and apparently has a new one each week, but hey, who’s counting? He was also in very good spirits and did a little dance before stepping onto the red carpet for interviews – eso es!
Otherwise, the night was a blast (thanks to my friends and blogger pals who were there) filled with beautiful people, delicious cocktails and great music.
Special Note: Kyma’s grand opening took place this past weekend and the venue fills the previous River Lounge spot and promises to be a more up-scale experience. Let’s hope it does well and doesn’t turn into the craziness that was its predecessor.

Ketel One Brazilian
Ingredients
1 ½ ounces Ketel One Citroen™ Flavored Vodka
¾ ounces fresh lime juice
½ ounces simple syrup
3 lime wedges
2 orange slices
Lemon lime Soda
Preparation
1.Muddle 2 lime wedges and 2 orange slices in the bottom of a rocks glass.
2. Fill with ice and add Ketel One Citroen, fresh lime juice and simple syrup.
3. Top with lemon lime Soda.
4. Stir gently.
5. Garnish with a lime wedge.
