It’s 3am on Saturday and you’re looking for a late-night spot to get a juicy bite to eat, but where to go? Midtown – we have your solution! La Latina is the type of spot that JG and I love because it reminds us so much of NYC. In fact, La Latina (a Venezuelan arepera) reminds us a lot of another popular joint in NYC called Caracas Arepa Bar, made famous by the Food Network’s Throwdown with Bobby Flay.
La Latina offers a variety of traditional Venezuelan bites such as their stuffed arepas that come with either chicken, beef, pernil (pork) or sweet plantains among other things. They also offer up empanadas and my personal favorite, tequenos (cheesy-filled dough) all at a very reasonable price. Besides being open till 5am on weekends, this cozy spot offers up gluten free products and their meats are hormone-free.
Okay, so maybe we’ve never been there past 3am because let’s face it, we’re getting old and the thought of being out that late is exhausting – but at least we know we have options and arepas taste good at any time of the day!
